How Can You Set up a Morning Routine Just for Yourself?
Your morning routine can be the one thing that sends you off for a good day as a family caregiver. It starts you off on the right foot straight out of bed and can make a tremendous difference for you.
Look at What Helps Get You Off to a Good Start
Most people know what helps to get their day off and running, whether that’s a leisurely cup of coffee or a yoga session. No matter what it is, start writing down your ideal morning. Then start plotting out how much time you would need in order to have your ideal morning every day. From there, you can work out whether you should get up a little bit earlier in order to get your ideal morning going.
Wake up Slowly, if You Can
There’s nothing comforting, nice, or pleasant about most alarm clocks. They’re helpful if you need to be awake by a certain time, but they’re jarring. If you are one of those people who doesn’t enjoy waking up that way, don’t. Look for alarm clocks that mimic the rising of the sun to help you wake up gradually but still on time.
Include Some Gratitude
Starting out your day by thinking about and writing down all the things you’re grateful for is a lovely way to begin a busy day. That feeling of gratitude is a wonderful one to carry into your tasks and other activities for the day. When the day isn’t so great, you can think back to your gratitude list for the day and remember that you do have things to feel grateful for.
Change Your Routine as You Find Other Activities that Bring You Joy
Your morning routine doesn’t have to stay static unless you want it to do so. As you find other activities that bring you joy and help you have a good day, you can add them and replace activities that don’t work as well for you any longer. Your morning routine can be a flexible system that helps you to stay sane.
Once you have your morning routine in place, stick to it as a part of your own self-care plan.
